People have to make lifestyle adjustments once the warm weather strikes, and pets should be included in this seasonal attention. Never leave your pets in parked cars on warm days. Brain damage and death can occur. Avoid transporting your pet in the back of a pick-up truck or other unsecured area. Be aware of the plants, fertilizers, and insecticides that can harm your pet so you can protect it. Pets should have collars and identification tags in the event you become separated at the park or beach. Provide access to water and shade when pets are outside, and limit their exercise on especially hot days. Talk to your veterinarian about heartworm medication and flea and tick treatments. |
